Zoltan Fecso is a composer and artist living on Wurundjeri Country in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia.

His work explores the many perceptual possibilities of listening. His sonic tapestries often feature prepared instruments, field recordings and electronics, created with a regard for improvisation, extended duration and fine detail.

Fecso’ debut Shimmer Raga was released on Seattle’s Hush Hush Records in 2019 exploring his ‘pointillism’ technique of tight repetition described as “highly tactile and mesmerising” by Stationary Travels.

Fecso’s 29 minute prepared piano piece ‘Butterfly Hands’ for Longform Editions was described by Boomkat as “flush with cascading, iridescent beauty.”

His most recent offering ‘Other Air’ on Sydney’s Oxtail Recordings is a textural impression of the southern Australian coastal landscape. Processing field recordings into uncanny shapes, Fecso demonstrates a keen awareness of the air itself as a medium for sound.

With a wide-ranging practice includes performance, installation, public artwork, composition and collaboration, he has performed and presented work in Australia and Europe at STEIM, Amesterdam; CAMP, Aulus Les Bains, France; FestivALT, Krakow, Poland; JOLT Sonic Arts Festival, Melbourne; Melbourne Recital Centre; Gorman Arts Centre, Canberra; White Night, Melbourne; Winter Wild Festival, Apollo Bay; Sleepless Festival, Melbourne; Omniversal Hum, Melbourne, Humming Grotto, Sydney and Signals, Melbourne.
